Railsponsible
SNCB is a member of the initiative "Railsponsible" which federates at the European level various actors of the railway sector:
- Operators (SNCB, SNCF, NS, ...)
- Manufacturers of rolling stock (Siemens, Alstom, ...)
- Suppliers of spare parts (Wabtec, Knorr-Bremse, ...)
The members of this initiative share the belief that sustainable procurement creates value for business and society as a whole. Their vision is of a rail industry in which all suppliers have ethical, social, environmental and economic best practices in place.
If you would like to learn more about how this initiative works, please visit the Railsponsible website.
The SNCB Procurement Department purchases all of the equipment that a rail operator needs to function: rolling stock (locomotives, wagons, engines, etc.), common consumables, spare parts, workshop equipment and IT equipment.
Purchasing services (such as security, consulting, installation and cleaning) and various energy commodities (such as petroleum products and gas) is also part of our role.
