With a Journalist Discount Card you can travel free in 2nd class. You will receive this card upon presenting AGJPB or AJPP certification (for trainee or professional journalists).

2 types of card are issued:

  • Discount card with code 043: for professional or trainee journalists.
  • Discount card with code 050: for employees of the AGJPB, the International Federation of Journalists and Media Executive Management with their head office in Belgium.

    Practical info

    Professional journalists (and trainee professional journalists) can use the trains free of charge in 2nd class. All you need to do is to apply for a Journalist Card from the station ticket office, providing:

    • an AGJPB or AJPP certificate
    • an ID photo
    • your ID card
    • the € 6 processing fee

    The Journalist Card is valid for 5 years, the validated ticket is valid for 1 year. Your card will be re-validated annually upon presentation of your certificate.

    No problem. You can apply for a duplicate card both for the main Journalist Card and for the validated version. Just visit the ticket office with your electronic ID card. The ticket staff will then issue a duplicate of the card (processing fee of € 6).

    *Discount only applied to the non-fixed part of the Standard fare. In 2nd class, the fixed amount is € 1,3709, per single journey. In 1st class, it is € 1,7822 (less than 37km) or € 1,9193 (37km - 51km) or € 2,1112 (52km and more) per single journey. The minimum price per single journey is € 2,50 in 2nd and € 3,30 in 1st class.
