Travelling in and around the city
Three main stations
As a capital city, Brussels has a number of stations. However, Bruxelles-Midi, Bruxelles-Nord and Bruxelles-Central are the three most important stations. At them you will find toilets and left luggage lockers for your bags. Most of the trains, which pass through the city, stop at these three stations.- International trains, Thalys, TGV, Eurostar and ICE leave from Bruxelles-Midi station. The underground also departs from this station heading for Heysel, where you will be able to visit the Atomium.
- To access the historic centre of Brussels, travel to Bruxelles-Central station.
STIB-MIVB
Brussels' public transport company is called STIB (in French) and MIVB (in Flemish). It makes up the whole of the network of trains, trams, underground trains and busses, which travel throughout the Brussels greater area.For one or a few trips buy a Brupass (XL). This product allows you to travel in and around Brussels. It exists in a card version of 10 trips.
Tips and things to know
- Right by Central Station, find Use-it: it's an amazing tourist information centre for exploring the city off the beaten track.
- Take advantage of the Blue-bike shared bike scheme and gain an appreciation of the back streets of the capital on two wheels.
- You will find a bus stop for CitySightseeing buses 100 metres from the exit of Bruxelles-Central station. More info.
- The Atomium is a characteristic features of the city. It is 30 minutes on the underground from Bruxelles-Midi station. Take advantage of our inexpensive B-Excursion tickets for visiting this imposing structure.
