Practical info
Apply for a Preferential Reimbursement Discount Card online through your My SNCB account or at the ticket office of any station you choose.
At the ticket office of a station of your choice, simply present your ID card and your personalized MoBIB card (from SNCB/NMBS, STIB/MIVB, TEC, or De Lijn). Don't have a MoBIB card yet? Request a new one for €6.
The counter clerk will check your request by connecting to the Social Security Crossroads Database. In the Social Security Crossroads Database, personal social data is kept and managed by the mutual insurance company concerned. If the database provides a positive response, your discount card will be placed in your MoBIB card.
If you have a personalized STIB/MIVB MoBIB card (with your name and a photo of yourself on it), register it in our systems before requesting your Preferential Reimbursement Discount Card online.
If you don't have a personalized MoBIB card, you can also order one online.
- each year if you are under 65
- every 5 years if you are 65 or older
If your MoBIB card is lost, stolen, expired or damaged, you can get a new one online via your MySNCB account or by going to one of our ticket counters. The issuing cost is €6.
- Buy your ticket in 2nd class.
- Opt for the Class upgrade supplement for the same journey.
- Show your Preferential Reimbursement 2nd class ticket, your Class Upgrade and your MoBIB card (or your Preferential Reimbursement Discount Card in paper format) at the ticket control. If your discount card is on your MoBIB card, the attendant will take it and scan it.
You can open the gates at Brussels Airport-Zaventem station with the QR code that appears on your ticket.
Yes, you can take your MOBIB card to De Lijn shop, but not at the TEC shop. They can read from the code on the card that you are entitled to De Lijn's season ticket with preferential reimbursement.
To benefit from the TEC's BIm benefits, please request your BIM status separately from the TEC.
