You are getting off the train in Brussels, Bruges, Gand or Liège and you are looking for a connection with the different modes of transport nearby? An itinerary? The tourist attractions in the surrounding area?

Since mid-January, SNCB has been testing interactive informative screens installed in several stations (Bruxelles-Midi, Gand-St-Pierre, Bruges and soon in Liège-Guillemins). These screens enable our customers to consult the different itineraries and inter-modal travel options (real-time offer of the other three public transport operators), a city map and a map of the tourist attractions near the station. These screens also inform passengers on any ongoing disruptions and works. The screens are available in 4 languages: French, Dutch, English and German.

This additional functionality could be rolled out to the 50 advertising screens due to be installed in several SNCB stations.

These interactive screens are an initiative of SNCB’s Innovation Lab, a multi-disciplinary team in charge of offering innovative projects, which has already several concrete achievements under its belt such as the #MoveSafe application and projects to help people with reduced mobility navigate through stations. These screens were developed by Belgian Mobility Company (BMC), the common digital laboratory of the public Belgian transport operators.

This 6-month long experiment will make it possible to test the potential and attractiveness of these interactive screens in a station environment. Based on the tests and customer feedback, improvements may be made before the deployment of these screens on a larger scale.
