National Recognition Status Card
With the Patriotic Grounds discount card, passengers with National Recognition status can enjoy free train travel in both 1st and 2nd class in Belgium.
- you don't need a ticket, your Patriotic Grounds Discount Card is on your MOBIB card
- 1st and 2nd class
- anytime and everywhere in Belgium (except for border zones)
Practical info
- For national recognition status holders and their widows/widowers: veterans, prisoners of war and war invalids of ‘14-’18, ‘40-’45, Korea, ex-Congo.
- Persons recognised as direct victims of terrorist acts and with a disability rate of at least 10%.
- The National Defence
- The Public Sector Department for Work and Pensions
The Patriotic Grounds Discount Card is issued on the MOBIB card
Do you already have a MOBIB card?
If you already have a valid MOBIB SNCB/NMBS, STIB/MIVB, TEC or De Lijn card, your SNCB Patriotic Grounds Discount Card will then be loaded onto your MOBIB card free of charge at the counter. Bring along with you to the train station:
- your certificate issued by the defence forces, public sector pension service or the federal public sector social security service
- your electronic identity card
You do not yet have a MOBIB card?
Bring along with you to the train station counter:
- your certificate issued by the defence forces, public sector pension service or the federal public sector social security service
- your electronic identity card
- € 6 (processing fee)
Don't worry, your ticket office staff member can issue a duplicate card.
This duplicate is issued:
- upon presentation of the applicant's proof of identity
- upon payment of a € 6 processing fee
- upon submission of an ID photo or one downloaded from your identity card
Have you lost your Patriotic Grounds Discount Card? Good news! The ticket staff can issue a duplicate of your card. To be issued a duplicate card, you must provide proof of identity, pay a processing fee of € 6 and submit a passport photo or a photo downloaded from your electronic ID card.
